Dr. Alok Pawaskar who hails from beautiful small town ‘Satara’ from Maharashtra, has professional experience of more than 14 years in the field of nuclear medicine and PET-CT. His education as well as experience as nuclear medicine physician has been varied from a private enterprise, government hospital, an academic set-up to corporate hospitals. After passing MBBS from Dr. Vaishampayan Memorial Government Medical College, Solapur, He completed his DRM (Diploma in Radiation Medicine) from prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai in 2003. He worked as senior resident in SGPGI, Lucknow before joining P. D. Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai for DNB in Nuclear Medicine. After completing his DNB in 2008, he worked as scientific officer at Radiation Medicine Centre, BARC, Mumbai.
He then joined Apollo Hospital, Chennai in 2009 and worked there for 4 year before coming back to Maharashtra. He joined HCG-Manavata Cancer Hospital at Nashik and was instrumental in setting up the department with gamma camera, PET-CT and Iodine-131 therapy ward there. After about 4 years, he moved closer to home town and joined Shri Siddhivinayak Ganapati Cancer Hospital, Miraj. And now he is working as director and full time consultant at Akshay PET CT, Sangli since Oct 2021.
Throughout his career he has written many scientific articles, reviews and book chapters. He was guide for DRM and DNB students at BARC, Mumbai and Apollo Hospitals, Chennai respectively. He has presented his research work at multiple national and international conferences. He received his training in PET CT at Singapore General Hospital, Singapore. He is well versed with gamma camera scans, PET CT as well as therapeutic nuclear medicine (Iodine-131, P-32, Sr-89, Y-90-microspheres, etc.). It would be his endeavour to deliver best of the nuclear medicine services at Akshay PET CT, Sangli. And to introduce newer diagnostic and therapeutic molecules (like Ga-68-PSMA, Ga-68-DOTATATE, F-DOPA, Lu-177-PSMA therapy, etc) for the benefit of the patients in this region.
